A $1 billion lottery jackpot is sending Australians into a frenzy, with hopeful players scrambling to enter the USA Power Lotto draw after 31 consecutive rounds passed without a Division 1 winner. The prize has now climbed to 10 figures, and despite the draw being based overseas, Australians are eligible to enter from home.
How the Jackpot Reached $1 Billion
The extraordinary prize pool is the result of an extended losing streak spanning more than a month of draws. With no Division 1 winner emerging across 31 consecutive rounds, the jackpot has compounded to a record-breaking sum that would make any Australian winner a figure in lottery history.
To claim the top prize, a player must correctly match five main numbers as well as a single Powerball number, a combination that has eluded every entrant throughout this remarkable run.
The 'Luckiest' Numbers in 2026
A representative from The Lottery Office shared the most frequently drawn numbers of 2026, giving players some data to inform their selections ahead of the next draw.
For the main numbers, the most commonly appearing figures so far this year are:
- 64
- 21
- 42
- 58
When it comes to the Powerball number, the most frequently drawn figures in 2026 are:
- 14
- 3
- 23
- 2
- 20
The Lottery Office's head of customer support noted that players can take two broad approaches when choosing their numbers: selecting those that have already appeared most often, or backing numbers that have yet to come up and may be considered "overdue."
