Manhattan Gold Corporation has delivered a striking maiden drilling result at its Spectre prospect within the Hook Lake project in Nunavut, Canada, intersecting high-grade copper, gold, silver and zinc mineralisation in the very first holes drilled at the site — results the company says confirm a significant new volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) discovery.

Spectre's maiden holes deliver exceptional polymetallic results

The first drill hole at Spectre returned a standout 6.1-metre intercept grading 3.18 per cent copper, 1.37 grams per tonne (g/t) gold, 147.9g/t silver and 1.35 per cent zinc from 45.72 metres downhole. That high-grade hit sits within a broader 19.81-metre sulphide zone assaying 1.77 per cent copper, 0.8g/t gold, 84.3g/t silver and 2.3 per cent zinc from 42.67 metres.

The same hole also delivered a near-surface zinc bonanza — a 3.05-metre section running at a remarkable 29.5 per cent zinc from just 12.19 metres, itself hosted within a wider 7.62-metre interval grading 13.98 per cent zinc from 10.67 metres. Few maiden drill programs produce results of this calibre.

A second hole, positioned 77 metres along strike, replicated the mineralised system, returning 6.1 metres at 1.1 per cent copper, 0.27g/t gold, 88.3g/t silver and 3.34 per cent zinc from 73.15 metres, within a broader 39.2-metre zone of lower-grade polymetallic mineralisation. A third hole extended the footprint a further 341 metres to the northeast, intersecting a 15.24-metre zone carrying gold and silver from 74.68 metres depth.

Taken together, the three holes have traced mineralisation across a 340-metre strike length, running from surface to more than 86 metres vertical depth. Critically, the system remains open along strike and at depth, pointing to substantial further discovery potential.

What the VMS discovery means for the Hook Lake project

VMS deposits are concentrations of metal-rich sulphide minerals that form on or beneath the seafloor through underwater volcanic and hydrothermal activity. They are prized globally for their ability to carry multiple metals simultaneously — precisely the mix Spectre appears to be delivering.

Manhattan Gold's technical advisor, Sam Vaughan, said the results had exceeded expectations from the outset. "The first three holes at Spectre have intersected mineralisation over a 340-metre strike length, giving us a strong polymetallic target alongside Jaws," he said. "With both Jaws and Spectre returning strong assays, and more than 60 kilometres of prospective geology across Hook Lake, we now have the datasets to target the next phase of exploration much more effectively."

Spectre sits 26 kilometres southwest of the company's main Jaws gold target, within Manhattan Gold's expansive 665-square-kilometre Hook Lake landholding. The discovery of a separate VMS-style system at Spectre now demonstrates the project area's capacity to host multiple deposit styles simultaneously.

Strong regional pedigree and proven gold results at Jaws

Hook Lake is located in the Rankin-Ennadai greenstone belt in Nunavut — a recognised tier-one Canadian mining jurisdiction. The region's geological credentials are underlined by Agnico Eagle's Meliadine gold mine, a 6.7-million-ounce deposit situated just 225 kilometres to the northeast.

Manhattan Gold's earlier exploration had already been producing high-grade gold results at the flagship Jaws target, where historical work outlined a non-JORC-compliant resource of 3.4 million tonnes grading 2.38g/t gold for 285,000 ounces. The company's own recent drilling has added to that story, including a 41.15-metre intercept at 4.66g/t gold featuring a spectacular 7.62-metre section at 18.67g/t gold, and a separate 74.67-metre hit at 1.61g/t gold from just 21.34 metres depth.

The emergence of the Spectre polymetallic system now significantly broadens the investment thesis for Hook Lake, with the company well-positioned to plan a follow-up drilling campaign targeting both the expanded Spectre VMS corridor and the high-grade gold potential at Jaws.
