Newcastle Knights forward Francis Manuleleua was forced from the field on a medicab after sustaining an elbow injury, dealing an early blow to the young forward's day.
The Knights rookie was unable to continue after the knock, leaving the field with assistance as concerns grew over the extent of the damage to his elbow.
Manuleleua, who has been working to establish himself in Newcastle's forward pack, was visibly in discomfort as he was transported from the playing surface, unable to walk off under his own power.
