A 26-year-old man from Adelaide's southern suburbs has died following a workplace accident at an Adelaide Hills Council property on Harrison Road in Charleston, approximately 40 kilometres from the Adelaide CBD. Emergency services were called to the scene at around 6.20am on Wednesday, where the man was found deceased.
Multiple Agencies Respond to Charleston Worksite Death
South Australia Police (SAPOL), the Country Fire Service (CFS) and SafeWork SA all attended the council-owned worksite following the incident. A SAPOL spokesperson confirmed that police are preparing a report for the State Coroner in relation to the workplace death at Charleston.
Adelaide Hills Council acknowledged the tragedy, confirming it is cooperating fully with emergency services and providing information and support as required.
"Our thoughts are with the family, first responders and staff impacted," an Adelaide Hills Council spokesperson said.
SafeWork SA Investigation Underway
SafeWork SA has confirmed that investigators and inspectors attended the Harrison Road worksite and are conducting a formal inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the man's death.
"They are making further enquiries and assessing the circumstances surrounding the incident," a SafeWork SA spokesperson said, adding that the site is being examined under the authority's standard investigative process.
The precise nature of the work being carried out at the time of the accident has not yet been disclosed by authorities. No further details about how the man sustained his fatal injuries have been released as the investigation remains in its early stages.
